The pre-assembly of turnouts or large turnout components – i.e. assembling turnouts at the turnout factory rather than at the installation site – offers not only economic but above all qualitative advantages. The transport of such turnout (large components) alone has not become established due to the limited availability and accessibility of such means of transport. For this reason, RAILONE developed a foldable turnout sleeper in close cooperation with DB Netz AG, which was awarded the CNA Innovation Prize in 2011. The foldable turnout sleeper makes it possible to essentially fold the sections of the turnout that are too wide for standard transport (L > 3 m) and transport them in this state using standard flatbed wagons.
