High weight and a large bearing surface of a sleeper increase track positional stability and reduce maintenance requirements. RAILONE's wide sleeper takes this concept to the extreme. A sleeper with a width of almost 60 cm and a weight of nearly 600 kg was developed. This allows traffic loads to be optimally distributed in the ballast bed without interruption in the sleeper compartment. The experience from over 25 years of operation is clearly noticeable and shows extended tamping cycles, even on tracks with very unfavorable subgrade conditions.
